By Claire O’Donoghue

Mike Browne (29) from Killeagh is holding a fundraiser in Kennedy’s Bar on Friday 10, May. The event kicks off at 8pm with music by the Savage Yanks, followed by a disco with DJ Keeffe. There is a cover charge at the door of just €10 and there will be raffles and spot prizes through the evening. Proceeds from the night will be going to help Mike compete in the Irish Road Racing Championship and in the exclusive TT in the Isle of Man.
Speaking with The East Cork Journal, Mike said, “I’ve been competing in both short circuit racing and road racing for about 3 years. I took part in the Manx Grand Prix last year and did well enough to be invited to enter the TT this year. I’d like to thank all those who have sponsored me so far and everyone who has helped me get so far. Many thanks also to the Savage Yanks, DJ David O’Keeffe and to Tomás and all the staff at Kennedy’s Bar.”
The Isle of Man TT is world renowned for lovers of motorsport around the world. For over 100 years the Island’s 37 mile mountain course has been the ultimate draw for racers. Last year the lap record was broken making the Isle of Man TT the fastest road race on earth.
Mike will be racing his Kawasaki ZX6 on the 3 June, which is the Bank Holiday Monday and again on Wednesday 5th.We wish Mike the very best of luck representing Killeagh and Ireland at the highest level.
