Mount Uniacke Tractor and Vintage Car Run in Aid of Irish Heart Foundation

By Claire O’Donoghue

On Sunday, 5 August, the Mount Uniacke Vintage Club will have their annual run in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation. The run is also a Remembrance Memorial to two lost friends and Vintage Club members, Larry Long and Finbar Hurley. The event will start from Mount Uniacke at 11am and travel to Tallow and Curraglass before returning to Longs / Hickeys in Mount Uniacke. Refreshments will be available for all in the bar, and DJ Tommy will be on hand with a few tunes followed by live music with Colin and Mark from 7-9pm. DJ Tommy will then return to the decks from 9-Late. It’s sure to be a great night for the entire community as well as the vintage fans. Speaking with The East Cork Journal Club Treasurer, James O’Keeffe said “Last year was a phenomenal success. We raised over €12,500 with over 200 tractors taking part. We can only hope for a similar turnout this year, given that it is for such a personal cause for all the community. We’d like to thank all our sponsors for their continuing support through the years”.
There will also be an auction of Séamus Harnedy’s Munster Final Jersey, signed by the Cork team and kindly donated to the cause by the local Cork centre forward. Hampers, vouchers and other prizes are up for the grabs in the raffle, with tickets at €2 a strip and 3 for €5 available now in the bar and all throughout the day itself. Please come along and support this great cause. It’s sure to be an event to remember.
Registration will start in Hickey’s Field from 10am at a cost of €20 per vehicle. The Run is open to all vintage and modern tractors and cars. The presentation of proceeds to The Irish Heart Foundation will take place in Hickey’s Bar later in the year.
