The Mount Uniacke Tractor Run in aid of the Irish Hearty Foundation takes place next weekend on Sunday, 6 August.
The charity run will leave from Hickey’s Bar in Mount Uniacke at 11am, with all interested parties invited to attend for a cost of €20 to register a tractor, vintage car or motorcycle with all proceeds going towards the Irish Heart Foundation.
“We will be meeting in the village itself, in the field behind Hickey’s pub,” said James O’Keefe, one of the organisers of the event. “It will be signposted. People can register at any time from 10am on and we will be leaving at 11am. It is €20 per tractor, car or bike with all the proceeds going to the Irish Heart Foundation. It is in memory of Larry Long, who passed away the bones of 12 months ago.”
Those interested in taking part in the Mount Uniacke Tractor Run can register on the day before it commences at 11am.
“The run will take a couple of hours,” said Mr O’Keefe, “but we will keep the vintage gear in the middle to keep us going at the same pace. We were planning on stopping but we will complete the run and come back to Mt Uniacke. The plan is then to take tractors home and come back for a bit of an oul’ hooley on the night at Hickey’s bar.”
The charity run’s headquarters, Hickey’s bar, is run by the brother of the late Mr Long and will host the post-run events.
“There will be tea and sandwiches after the event,” said Mr O’Keefe, “music in the bar and a fairly big raffle on the night too. Anybody is welcome to come along on the run and throw a few bob in towards the charity. We are hoping for a big turnout. Everybody is welcome and we hope it will be an enjoyable day.”
