Dungourney GAA Club is holding its annual Night at the Dogs fundraiser this Friday, 22 September
The third such Night at the Dogs fundraiser will be hosted at Youghal Greyhound Stadium – the same venue as last year’s event – and will offer a unique and entertaining event for attendees, complete with a raffle.
The first race of the night will begin at 7.50pm and admission for adults is priced at €10, with children under 16 entering for free. The proceeds raised will go towards Dungourney GAA Club.
“Our Night at the Dogs fundraiser is on this Friday at Youghal Greyhound track,” said Christy Fitzpatrick, Chairman of Dungourney GAA Club. “The first race is on at 7.50pm. It’s €10 in for adults with kids free in. That €10 entitles you to entry to the track and also to the draw. We have five grand prizes and numerous other prizes, all of which have been sponsored by local businesses. Also we have a race card in which businesses have taken out ads, so we have a fairly big sponsorship.”
The five grand prizes in the bumper draw include a one night bed and breakfast stay at the Clayton Hotel in Cork as first prize. The second prize is a €200 voucher for Hurley’s Supervalu in Midleton and the third is a three-month peak gym membership at Midleton Park Hotel. The fourth prize is a luxury hamper of Johnson and Johnson products with the fifth main prize being €100 in cash.
The proceeds raised will go towards funding many aspects of Dungourney GAA Club, which caters for Dungourney Camogie and Kiltha Óg (an amalgamation of Dungourney and Castlemartyr).
“The proceeds will go to cover the maintenance of the pitch,” said Mr Fitzpatrick, “and to the club development. We recently got planning permission to for an extension to the handball alley. The proceeds will also go towards getting trainers for the players – we get in a trainer for the intermediate and the junior teams every year – and equipment like cones and pads, etc.”
Tickets for the event are currently on sale by all committee members.
