Excitement was high in 29 Friar Street Youghal on Monday last when a team of thirty young Volunteer painters from Alcon Ireland, Model Farm Road, Cork joined with local supporters to paint the new Cork ARC Cancer Support House Supporting East Cork & West Waterford which, it is hoped, will open officially at the end of May. With the great help of Pat Walsh Paints Midleton, who sponsored the paint and brushes, work commenced with great enthusiasm and to the encouragement of passing traffic who hooted horns in support.
Youghal's David O'Callaghan, Irish Rugby Union Player for Munster, paid a surprise visit and created great excitement with the workers and passersby. Speaking with The East Cork Journal David said "it is wonderful to have Cork ARC Cancer House Supporting East Cork & West Waterford here in Youghal, not just for the town itself, but for people from all over the East Cork and West Waterford areas. I'm delighted to help in even the smallest way with something as significant and beneficial as Cork ARC Support House supporting East Cork & West Waterford in Youghal, and congratulate everyone involved".
