With the arrival of its 114th year in operation, the Midleton Agricultural Show is preparing to open the farm gates in Coppingerstown (Eircode P25 VN84), on Sunday, 26 May to the whole community and showcase the best of East Cork’s agricultural endeavours. Entry fee is just €10 per adult and children under 12 are free.
There will be plenty for the whole family to enjoy and with the luck of a bit of good weather, there aren’t many better community days out in terms of diversity, information and fun. Horses, Ponies, Cattle, Sheep, and Dogs will all be on display as well as the skills of their handlers, breeders and owners. Success at these top levels is a collaborative effort encompassing the hard work and dedication of farmers, veterinary practices, feed providers and local community support. Rural families have been helping each other out for centuries at harvests, silage time, milking and building work on neighbouring farmsteads. The Midleton Agricultural Show, and others like it, have been showcasing farming life to the entire community, both urban and rural.
There will also be an Arts / Crafts and cookery section at the show, displaying age old traditions including embroidery, photography, crochet, painting, baking and more. The usual children’s amusements and baby show will be there, and trade stands aplenty. The Show welcomes a very special guest this year, Youghal’s back-to-back Grand National winning champion jockey, Davy Russell.
