Queen of the Sea 2019 Set to be Spectacular!

The Annual Queen of the Sea Festival takes place in Youghal this weekend, July 12th – 14th.
Now in its 10th year, the Family Fun Festival has grown to become one of East Cork’s most loved events.
Last year’s Queen of the Sea festivities drew more than five thousand visitors to the sunny South East beach front of Youghal, and this year it looks set to be even more successful, with so much to do and see in the packed Programme.
On Friday, 12th July the Festival kicks off at 7pm when Perks Entertainment Centre comes to Nealon’s Quay. Celebrating their 90th year in business, the much loved Entertainment Centre promises to bring you back to the good days of the Funfair for the entire weekend, which also includes a Children’s Fancy Dress Competition with Free entry.
At 8.30pm live from the Gig Rig you will get an introduction and preview of this year’s Queens, followed at 9pm by the incredible “FULL CIRCLE” to entertain you for the evening.
On Saturday July 13th the Coast Guard Sea Safety Demonstrations will take place at Nealon’s Quay at 10am. These will include Helicopter rescues, Public safety awareness displays and demonstrations, and is certainly one not to be missed!
Also taking place on the 13th from 10am is the Youghal Food Festival where you can stroll around the Food and Craft Market and discover an array of local and homemade produce. Treat yourself to a tasty selection of BBQ Burgers, Gourmet Sausages, Pizzas, Crepes, Cakes, Breads, Jams, Chutneys, Sweets, and more, after which there’s plenty to keep the whole family entertained including face painting, amusements, street music and much more.
RedFM will broadcast live from the Gig Rig from 11am on Saturday July 13th.
From 1pm there is a Crab Catching Competition and from 2.30pm the Dulux Dog will be making an appearance in Nealon’s Quay and in Cal Flavin’s Expert in Main Street, Youghal.
From 11am step into the magical world of Hogwarts Museum from 11am in the Mall Arts Centre and experience the wizarding world of Harry Potter.
Then from 3.30pm the wonderful and talented local “Jordan Kay will take to the Gig Rig, followed at 5.30pmwith a live performance by Barry Darcy, Ireland’s Got Talent Golden Buzzer Winner.
At 7pm the Queen of the Sea Contest will take to the stage where everyone will get to know a little more about the Queens, and see the crowning of the Festival Queen 2019.
The Finale, an Open Air Concert with “Monstaball” Band sponsored by The Quay’s Bar, will be followed by a spectacular Fireworks Display.
So come along and experience the fun, colour and spectacle at this year’s Queen of the Sea Festival. Have the kids take part in the “Fancy Dress” contest on Nealon’s Quay, sample and enjoy the Food Festival and wander through the many food and craft stalls where you can treat yourself to a taste of the finest local produce to be found in the area.
Let the kids join in the fun and enter the Crab Catching and Sand Castle Building competitions, and bring the family to visit The Three Broomsticks Inn workshop.
It promises to be a spectacular weekend for all the family!
