Reunion for Inch Tourig Set Dancing Group after Quarter of a Century

The Inch Tourig Set Dancing Reunion takes place this coming weekend, and excitement is building, as the group prepares to reunite, more than 25 years on from their last gathering.
The Thatch in Killeagh plays host to the event this Saturday 3 February and the festivities get underway at 7.30 pm. It has been 26 years – and more – since the members have all been together. Some are travelling from just a few miles away, while others have much longer treks to make, as they gather to reminisce and share laughs, this coming Saturday.
Speaking to the East Cork Journal, ahead of this weekend’s reunion, Sandra O’Brien said; ‘‘we haven’t met in 26 years or so. So, it will be lovely. We have old photos of us set dancing to reminisce about. The majority of us would live in close proximity to one another, although one person is now a garda in Cavan and another has been over in America for ten years. There’s only one person who can’t make it along, out of the fifteen members invited. However, unfortunately we also lost our trainer Sean Leahy, who passed away two years ago.
‘‘I’m still involved voluntarily with the Monday Club in Killeagh, where we do social dancing with the elderly. As for this weekend, you’d never know, we might get up and do an old set’’!
