Scoil Chliodhna Community National School Raise over €570 for the Mercy Hospital

Scoil Chliodhna Community National School in Carrigtwohill held an event last Thursday for 96fm's Giving for Living. After much deliberation, it was decided to hold a Spinathon and an 'active wear non uniform day' to raise funds for this amazing Cork cause.

The event was organised in full by the PTA of Scoil Chliodhna. Bikes were kindly donated for the day by Catalyst Health and Fitness, Carrigaline and by 8am, the parents were pedalling. A queue of parents built up during the day, with everyone eager to get involved. Each of the classes came out to support, with some of the teachers exercising their competitive spirit in mini competitions against each other. Some of the teachers even wore their Scoil Chliodhna jerseys for the big day!

96fm's Street fleet heard of the event and popped down for a chat and a song. They were very impressed by the children's excitement and by the rattle of coins in the buckets.

In total, the 159  children raised over €570, which was delivered to the Mercy Hospital on Friday. This money will help cancer care in Cork.

Well done to all involved!
