A Shave and Wax Fundraiser in aid of the Irish Cancer Society was held in the Thatched Inn recently. Noreen Stanton Lane from the local Bridge Salon was in charge of the Shaving while Aliz Pomphrett from Ev and Essence Beauty Salon in Midleton took charge of the Waxing.
The Organisers, Donna and Mary Dalton and Nina Beausang raised €12,195.00 on the night for the Irish Cancer Society and they would like to thank the local businesses, patrons and those that took part and supported the Shave and Wax in any way for their generosity. They would like to especially thank the volunteers that went through the pain barrier for the Wax and those who took part in the Shave.
Mr. John Fitzgerald from the Irish Cancer Society attended a function in The Thatched Inn Ladysbridge last weekend and was extremely gracious in his thanks to the organisers and the local community for this generous donation. He appealed for anyone contemplating retirement to look at volunteering with the Irish Cancer Society who are always looking for people to help in any way possible, one day a week or two days a fortnight, what ever one wants they will be grateful for the help. He outlined how the money raised will be used in cancer research, tending to the needs of cancer sufferers either with travel or home assistance. It was heart warming to know that the money raised will be helpful to those that suffer from cancer.
