Soprano singer Shereen Dent will officially launch her debut CD in Killeagh next month.
The album launch is taking place on Thursday 8 March, at the Greywood Arts Centre in Killeagh at 8pm. Shereen, who is originally from Johannesburg in South Africa, has been living in east Cork since 2001. Since arriving in Killeagh, she has been involved in the Killeagh Choir, with Mary Pedder Daly, who accompanies her on the new CD.
Shereen’s new album was recorded at Claycastle Studios in Youghal, with the help of Warren Tivy. Entitled ‘Early Morning Magic’, the nine-track CD features the Killeagh-based soprano performing some of her favourite songs. Shereen will also deliver a recital of these songs live on the night of the launch.
The award-winning singer, who says that she inherited her talent from her grandmother, told the East Cork Journal ‘‘I have been working on this CD for quite a long time. I am excited to finally get it out there. Everybody is very welcome to attend the launch. There will be light refreshments as well as a few CD tunes sung by me during the evening. All are welcome to bring friends. The support will be most appreciated.’’
