• Corks first junior Parkrun will begin in Cobh on Sunday 27 May at 9.30am
• Junior Parkrun is a free weekly 2k timed run for 4 – 14 year olds.
• This is a major boost to the youth of the town and gives them a starting point for a lifetime in sport and health.
• The initiative is being led by a Committee of volunteers representing many of the voluntary organisations in the town including Cobh GAA, Cobh Pirates, Springfield Ramblers, and Ballymore - Cobh A.C.
• Cobh Junior Parkrun is funded by the HSE and Cobh Municipal Council.

Launching the event in Cobh on Monday evening, Sonia O Sullivan said: "I am absolutely delighted that the parkrun movement is coming to Cobh, one of the fastest growing and motivating fitness activities that is spreading around the world. This is a fantastic opportunity for Cobh to get young children fit and active and learn about setting Goals and improving their health and fitness from a young age."
Cobh junior parkrun event director Majella Canty said: "congratulations to all the volunteers and committee members who have worked hard to bring the parkrun event to Cobh. We are thrilled to launch an event that will have such a positive impact on the Health and Wellbeing of our children and community."
