Rehearsals are well underway for the staging of the hit musical ‘Sister Act!’ by the students of St Aloysius’ College, Carrigtwohill. Sister Act is based on the hit 1992 film of the same name, with music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner and additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane. Nominee for Best Musical at the Tony Awards 2017, Sister Act promises to be a feast of song and dance for all the family.
Sister Act is the latest in a series of musical presentations which have been part of the College tradition for over 40 years.
School Principal, Mr. Seán Twomey commented,
'The work being put in by the students under the careful guidance and encouragement of their teachers has been great to watch, a school musical really brings the values of teamwork and creativity to life. Some of the musical numbers I've seen look and sound brilliant, Sister Act is a really energetic musical and I hope that as many parents, students and members of the public as possible come and support the cast and crew.'
The dedicated cast is looking forward to showcasing their talents for all. The musical’s production team comprises mainly of school staff with the Director Ms Anne-Marie Scully, Musical/Choral Directors, Ms. Lorena Gillard and Ms.Olivia Forde, Choreographer, Mrs. Jessica Dunlea, and Business and Marketing Director, Ms. Fiona O’ Carroll. Ms Scully stated, “This musical showcases the talents of St. Aloysius’ students, many of whom will be known to people throughout the surrounding communities so I hope they support us and come together for a great night out. The girls have put in tremendous effort and have been a great group to work and have fun with.”

The musical will take place in the school auditorium and will run for four consecutive nights from Monday to Thursday - February 5th to 8th.
