The Yellow Ribbon Tattoo fundraiser to celebrate the life of Dillyn Curley and to raise funds for Pieta House was hosted in Team M Salon, Youghal last weekend and drew support from all over the Youghal, East Cork and West Waterford areas. From 8am, people queued all day to participate in this wonderful event where Jonny B, Studio resident Artist, worked voluntarily until almost midnight, and to whom sincere thanks are extended.
The East Cork Journal called into the Salon and proprietor, Matthew Bullard, said he was overwhelmed with the support which they received. "I must first of all thank Dillyn's family who gave their Blessing for the event. It was a really emotional day for everyone" he said, "and together we raised €3,100 which will be donated to Pieta House". Matt went on to say "Dillyn was a great friend and we really wanted to bring an awareness to many people affected by suicide that there is always someone there to listen. Dillyn himself was always helping others, and if the money raised will help someone else or their families, I know he will be proud".
The entire town of Youghal got behind this fundraiser, and thanks were extended to Jordan Kenneally for playing in the Salon, and all the local people and businesses for their support. The team also thanked sincerely all those who were tattooed in Dillyn's memory, all who donated to the fund, to the many who gave prizes for the Raffle, and to everyone who helped in any way.
Matthew's final words to The East Cork Journal were "I would love to have never needed to do this event".
Dillyn Curley will never be forgotten.
