Focus Ireland in partnership with Cork City FC have organised a BIG Rebel Sleep Out to raise awareness for the homeless and housing crisis in Ireland. Focus Ireland is a national charity working with families, children and young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Speaking to Dick White of Focus Ireland he said: “More than 8,500 people are homeless in Ireland and 1 in 3 people that use our services are children. In 2016 alone, Focus Ireland supported over 13,500 people. We have over 70 projects across Ireland providing warm meals, practical support and education along with safe and secure housing.”
Participants are being asked to get involved and sign up to sleep out at the Cork City FC training base in Bishopstown on this Saturday 14 April. The sleep out will be 12 hours long and organisers hope to highlight the plight of the 8,500 homeless people across Ireland today. Support, advice and materials to help with fundraising will be provided to all participants in advance and also on the night of the event. For all those individuals, clubs or societies willing to take part please contact Dick White of Focus Ireland on 086 8223690 or dick.white@focusireland.ie
