Three Killeagh Students Hold Fundraiser This Weekend For Hope Foundation

By Alan Sheehan

An Afternoon Tea fundraiser to send three Killeagh students abroad next year is set to take place this Sunday, 23 July.
The fundraiser is hosted at Kennedy’s Bar, Killeagh and will run from 2-4pm with all welcome to attend. The event was organised to raise the proceeds required to send Dara Motherway, Chloe Walsh and Adam Danaher to Kolkata, India, with the Hope Foundation next year.
“The Hope Foundation is taking students from Munster and sending them to Kolkata for a period of days in March of next year,” said Colman Motherway, father of Dara. “Pobalscoil na Trionóide has six students going, with three of those from the Killeagh area; those students being Adam, Chloe and Dara. They have all be tasked with fundraising for Hope Foundation, with each having to raise €3,000 abroad.”
The Hope Foundation works to provide aid and education to the most impoverished and underprivileged of children in Kolkata, most of whom live on the streets, work for money for food since the age of five, and have no promise of a safe future. Hope funds and operates over 60 projects to rectify this and support the development of underprivileged sections of Kolkata’s society.
“It is a public fundraising event and open to everybody,” said Mr Motherway. “All proceeds raised at the Afternoon Tea will go towards the Hope Foundation and all support would be greatly appreciated.”
