Tickets are quickly running out for a major charity fundraiser being held in Midleton next week.

The pink and blue charity night at Midleton GAA club house features an array of East Cork talent including Aine Duffy, Caroline McSweeney, Chris Cusack, Lydia Donnelly and Ellen Lee.

What is being hotly tipped as one of the biggest charity fundraisers of the Christmas season in East Cork, is in aid of the Irish Cancer Society Breast Cancer Awareness campaign and Epilepsy Ireland.

Taking place at 7:30pm on Saturday 30 November, limited tickets are on sale at €10 and include a complimentary glass of Prosecco or Blue Gin on arrival.

Organised by neighbours Ger Lowen and Edel Horgan the charity gig promises to be a night to remember, with a myriad of prizes to give away from mini hotel breaks to food hampers and pamper packs for both him and her.

Both Ger and Edel have a personal connection with the chosen charities.

Due to Edel’s personal experience with breast cancer during the past year she is totally committed to raising awareness and funds to continue the work of Breast Cancer Ireland.

For Ger the event offers an opportunity to give back to Epilepsy Ireland who has supporter for her family since her 12 year old son was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2015.

Through her involvement she has learned so much about understanding, educating and assisting her son in managing his condition.

According to the Irish Cancer society Breast cancer is now the second most common cancer in Ireland. 1 in 10 women will get breast cancer at some point in their lives, and there is a 1 in 667 chance of men in Ireland developing the condition in their lifetime.

There is currently over 40,000 people in Ireland with Epilepsy. One of the biggest challenges face by people with a diagnosis is the lack of public understanding of the condition.

Epilepsy Ireland who receive no government funding, rely totally on the generosity of the public work to improve knowledge and reduce stigma, by highlighting epilepsy in the media, and by reaching out through workplaces, schools, and other partners.

Tickets can be purchased in Boots pharmacy Midleton or by calling Ger on 086-8526384 and Edel on 087-7924728.
