Whitebay Christmas Day Swim Presents Cheque for €8,097 to Simon Community

On Friday, 1 March, a cheque for €8,097 was presenting to Kerry McMahon and Eoin Mac Cuirc of the Cork Simon Community Fundraising office. The proceeds were raised at the 25th Annual Whitebay Christmas Day Swim. Mr. Mac Cuirc stressed the huge contribution that Whitebay Christmas Day Swim has made to assist the plight of Cork’s homeless people. In 2015, the total raised and donated through the event to Cork Simon over the years stood at over €250,000!! A huge achievement from a small, but big-hearted community.

Local Committee organisers, Caitlin, Delphine and Gay said great friendships have been made at the event over the years. “We want to thank all the participants, sponsors and supporters for their loyalty and dedication each year. Huge thanks also to Rosie’s Pepperstack Bistro for the warm welcome and delicious food provided on the day and to musicians Catlin, Rúairí and Rory Allen for all the lively trad music and songs. We look forward to Whitebay Christmas Day Swim 2019. Go nbheirimid beo ar an am seo arís.”
