Killeagh Inch 2020 are hosting its first ever treasure hunt on Sunday 10 September.
The event run in conjunction with the Killeagh Inch Community Council will take place in Glenbower woods between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
The family orientated occasion is designed at helping bridge a funding gap in maintaining the local amenity and increase facilities there.
“We have put together an exciting afternoon of entertainment with fun activities centred on the main theme of the Treasure Hunt” commented Michael Cowhig of Killeagh Inch 2020.
He added, “there are some exciting prizes thanks to a number of generous sponsors including The Quality Hotel, Perks, Leahys Open Farm, Midleton Distillery, Jurys Inn Cork, Movie Junction, Fota Wildlife Park, Rochestown Park Hotel, Abernethy Ford, Hurley’s Supervalu Midleton, Brooks SuperValu Youghal, Kearney’s Tallow and some family passes to Youghal Clock Tower”
Glenbower is popular with walkers, joggers and nature lovers, it has also been site to many events over the years including May Sunday.
Some of the clubs that use the woods have made contributions, but further funding is required to maintain the infrastructure and improve the areas offering to the outdoor enthusiast.
Tickets for the event cost €5 per person, children under 3 go free. There is also a Family ticket for families of 4 or more for €20.
Proceeds of the Treasure hunt will go directly to developing walking trails throughout the 22 hectare site.
If you like using Glenbower, Killeagh Inch 2020 want to hear from you.
Mr Cowhig said “Glenbower has a lot of potential and we want more ideas on how to improve it.”
“If the Midleton to Youghal Greenway is developed we want to attract more visitors and their euro into the region, but at present it’s all about upgrading what’s already there.”
