Youghal Cycling Club to Host Beginners Cycle

By Claire O'Donoghue

Youghal Cycling Club is holding a special Beginners Cycle on Wednesday,4 July at 7pm. All cyclists are to gather at Farrell's of Summerfield for the “meet, greet and spin”. If cycling is something in which you have an interest, and would like to get involved, then this is the ideal introduction. Experienced members will be with you all along the route to offer advice. All that you need for this event is a roadworthy bike and a helmet. The route, distance and pace will be suitable for all levels of experience and fitness. The Club is planning to host a few of these Summer Cycles over the next few weeks, depending on interest. Please note this particular event is for over 18s only.

The Group Cycle provides an enjoyable and fun way to get started on a healthier lifestyle, with like-minded people. There is plenty of motivation and encouragement to set and achieve goals at your own pace. Come along on July 4 at 7pm and see the benefits for yourself.

Speaking with the East Cork Journal, Club Secretary Tom Hickey said “These Summer Spins are a great way to encourage new membership and allow people, in a sense, to 'try before they buy'. Cycling Ireland allows us to let potential new members come along on 3 cycles before deciding if they wish to join the club. After 3 cycles, for Insurance purposes, it is essential to have membership to continue in any event with Youghal Cycling Club. Thanks to a successful grant application, the club will own 3 new bikes for any underage children to try out and see if road cycling is the sport that will capture their interest. We hold cycles for the underage category on Saturdays, but please contact the club before taking part.”
If you, or your child, are interested in taking up cycling with Youghal Cycling Club please contact Tom Hickey on 087 9625814, find them on Facebook or email
