Youghal C.A.S.A. is a group of local Youghal/East Cork residents who work together giving one to one care for those in their community with a physical or intellectual disability. They cover all areas extending from Castlemartyr to Ardmore. One of twenty two branches through Ireland, C.A.S.A. was formed in 1981. They are not grant funded. They work freely, giving of their own time. They enjoy what they do, and they do it well. But they also need the support and generosity of the people.
Speaking with The East Cork Journal at their meeting held in Youghal this week, the members told of how they depend on fundraising to continue their work which includes organising socials, respite breaks, outings during the year and an annual Lourdes Pilgrimage, during which they also provide one to one care for all who can travel.
This year, they are organising a one day fundraising Golf Classic and Raffle which will be held, with kind permission, in Youghal Golf Club on 17 August.
"Many C.A.S.A. members over the years have helped us in the past with our fundraising events", Martina Hooley said, "and we deeply appreciate their help, support and assistance, which has been invaluable. The people of Youghal have always given us great encouragement, and local businesses have already donated prizes for this year's event. The Committee extended their thanks to Eileen Walsh, Albert Muckley, Michael Treacy, The Walter Raleigh Hotel, Solo Hairdressing for their ongoing support and generosity.
The Golf fundraiser is a 3 person team event, played on the old course and costs €75 for the team. If you can enter a team, sponsor a team, or help in any way it would mean a lot to the organisers. The Raffle will be held that evening and again, a donation of a prize or purchasing Raffle Tickets would be very much appreciated.
The timesheet is now open and you can book a line, or get any information you need by telephoning John, Martina or Siobhán on 024 91791 or 087 9479189
Before the meeting concluded, Youghal C.A.S.A. asked The East Cork Journal to please thank everyone who has supported the group since its founding including local businesses, groups and individuals and said they will be very grateful for your continuing support once again this year.
