The incredible Christmas Lights Display at the Carey home in Dermot Hurley Estate, Youghal resulted in the magnificent amount raised of  €4,303 which was donated to the Mercy Hospital Cancer Appeal on Monday night last.

A delighted Pat and Margaret were joined by family and friends for the special presentation to Deirdre Finn, Community & Events Fundraiser who accepted the cheque on behalf of this great charity.

Speaking with The East Cork Journal Deirdre sincerely thanked Pat and Margaret and said  "Over the past four years this family have raised a total of €13,930.20 for their Christmas Lights Display fundraiser, which is a magnificent achievement and which required a lot of hard work, dedication and commitment from them.  This year's cheque will again go a long way towards achieving our mission which is the treatments and care of patients, and to support advancements in research and diagnosis".

Pat and Margaret said they were thrilled with the success again this year and extended thanks to all the local businesses for their generous sponsorships;  to the performers at Brú na Sí Cultural Centre who hosted a fundraising concert; to The Holy Family Choir;  to all the helpers each night over the few weeks "and particularly", they told The East Cork Journal, "to all the wonderful, generous people of Youghal and surrounding areas who came along in support and made donations to this great cause".
