Local amateur drama group, Youghal Little Theatre, has announced plans to hold open audition on Saturday, 27 April. Following years of successful productions, the group is in midst of planning the next and auditions will take place upstairs in the Red Store on the 27th at 4.30pm.
Eleven parts in total are up for grabs, with character ages ranging from early 20s to 70s. The committee is tight-lipped about their new production, but assure that details will emerge in the next few weeks when all parts have been assigned. The last offering from the local drama group was the highly successful run of Jimmy Keary’s comedy “A Friend in Need” in the Mall Arts Centre last October.
Speaking with The East Cork Journal, Chairman of the Little Theatre Group, Liam McCarthy said, “We’re hoping we’ll have the usual blend of personalities at the auditions. We always look forward to audition day and seeing what new talented people come forward – they always do and it’s great to witness. Youghal’s Little Theatre Group has been entertaining the local community and on-stage drama lovers from the surrounding areas since 1948 and we strive, with each production, to keep the reputation of those members who kept the group going all those years, to the high standards they themselves set.”
