On World Autism Awareness Day, 2 April, Youghal Parents Together in Autism group held an information day in Tesco. Members of the group were on hand to offer advice and information to anyone wishing to know more about the local group, or the services it uses.
Simultaneously, at Amber Petrol Station, Front Strand a fundraising car wash took place. Thanks to the generosity of owners Mark and Susan Curtin and area manager Nick Freeman, all proceeds from patrons using the car wash were donated to Parents Together. Mark and Susan themselves also made a very generous donation on the day. All in all, a grand total of €959.86 was raised between the two locations.
The committee and members of the group would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to Tesco Youghal, and Susan and Mark Curtin at Amber Petrol Station, for allowing them the use of their premises to advertise World Autism Awareness Day. They also thanked sincerely the community of Youghal who have never wavered in their support of the group. “The community spirit in Youghal is second to none” said a committee member. “Youghal has been behind us since we began in 2014 as a support group for local parents who had children diagnosed with autism. The group has gone from strength to strength, made possible by the continued support which we receive from the local community”.
