The proceeds from a fundraiser at Pobalscoil na Tríonóide Youghal which took place on December 17, 2018, were presented to three charities on Monday, 28 January. The event was a Festive Non-Uniform day organised and led by Transition Year students, Mary Flavin and Stella O'Driscoll. Both girls were aided by other students in the year and teachers, Mr. Slocum and Ms.Motherway.
Their simple, yet highly productive idea, raised €2,100 resulting in the donation on Monday of €700 each to Waterford Hospice, Youghal Community Hospital and Youghal Cancer Support House. Representatives from each were very grateful and thanked the students for their great work.
Speaking with The East Cork Journal, Tina O'Driscoll from Youghal Cancer Support House said, “We'd like to offer our utmost thanks to all the Transition Year students for all their efforts. It's great to see young people getting involved to make a difference in their community. I'd like to take this opportunity to remind people that Youghal Cancer Support House on Friar St is open on Fridays from 10am to 4pm under the supervision of our Director of Services, Maria Kirby. For more information contact 085 2507385 or 024 91654. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org”
Well done to all the Transition Year students at Pobalscoil na Tríonóide!
