Youghal Utd AFC Hope for Full House Bingo Night

By Claire O’Donoghue

Youghal United Football Club is hosting a Bingo night in the Walter Raleigh on Wednesday, 20 February at 7.30pm. The event will be spilling over with amazing prizes up for grabs, from cash to luxurious overnight stays and much more. The Club has been a stalwart of the community since it’s foundation in 1985. Generations of adults, boys and girls have discovered “the beautiful game” and all the fun and activity of healthy competition.

Speaking with The East Cork Journal, Chairperson of the committee, Thomas Clohessy said, “This fundraiser is to help accomplish one of our short term goals at the Club which is the refurbishment of the dressing rooms and lockers. Our Club has gone through a big expansion in numbers and team formations, so appropriately equipped dressing rooms are a necessity for the club. We’re hopeful for a great turnout on the night for the Bingo, with plenty of prizes and fun assured. Youghal community has also been great to support us and we are always grateful.”

With just a few years left on their mortgage at Ardrath Park, the Club is concentrating for now on their short term refurbishment goals. Once the mortgage is cleared, plans for more long term goals will be the focus.

Vice Chairperson Mark Hennessy, Treasurer Richard Lane, Secretary Marcelina Wasowicz together with Chairperson Thomas Clohessy have the future of the Club well in hand. The East Cork Journal wish them all the best with their continued endeavours, and look forward to the results of all their hard work
