Now in its 9th year, Youghal’s First Cut Film Festival is set for lights, cameras and plenty action. From 25 – 28 April at the Mall Arts Centre, the festival will be shining a light on the talents of young filmmakers aged from 12 to 24. A perfect showcasing platform dedicated to encouraging innovation, inspiration and information for all young enthusiasts of film making and animation.
With the support of the Cork Film Centre, there will be a large screen pop-up cinema and café provided showing films of all genres from individuals and school and youth groups. The generosity and cooperation of local businesses has in no small way, facilitated the thriving growth of the festival year on year which, as of this year, has now become an international 4 day event. It will be a haven for aspiring like-minded young people to converse with peers and learn from the experience of established professionals. Over the 4 days, as well as celebrating the films made, there will a wealth of education and experience on offer through various workshops, Q&A sessions, and special panel discussions on enhancing artistic, technological and dramatic abilities. The workshops include topics covering all aspects of film making, animation, IT, Digital storytelling to name but a few.
On Wednesday 25 April the festival is offering an “Acting for Film” Workshop with John McCarthy starting at 3.30pm. Places for this particular workshop is for 14 to 18 year olds are the number limited to just 12 so please book early at firstcutfilm@gmail.com. The cost is €10. ALL OTHER EVENTS ARE FREE.
