Holly Twomey from Youghal, a 2nd year student in Limerick School of Art and Design, has won the 2017 Irish Fashion Innovation Awards for Students. The Awards, which are held in aid of the Galway Hospice, is a contest for fashion designers and fashion students, and this year the students were asked to design a T-Shirt which would capture the ethos of the Hospice.
In a brief interview with The East Cork Journal last weekend, Holly said she wanted her T-Shirt to give a hopeful and positive message, and came up with her own slogan "There's Always the Sun". "I wanted bright, sunny colours, and I designed it to bring smiles to faces".
The first judging reduced the large number of entries to nine, and this number was further reduced to just four, from which Holly was selected as the outright winner. "I couldn't believe it" she said, "because I thought all the other entries were brilliant!"
